The Indonesian Air Force has selected the MTS-206A Maverick Field Test Set and MTS-916-3 Modular Target Simulator from Marvin Test Solutions for testing of the AGM-65 Maverick missile and missile launcher systems. The contract was issued to Marvin as part of the Foreign Military Sale (FMS) protocol.

The Maverick is an air-to-ground missile (AGM) with precision guidance system capable of 1-m accuracy (see photo). It is the most widely deployed tactical missile in the Western world, featuring a modular design with a number of variations. The Maverick has been in service by the U.S. Air Force since 1972; it is exported to more than 30 countries and approved for use on more than 25 different aircraft. More than 6,000 of the missiles have been used in combat, with reported accuracy of 93%.

The MTS-206A and MTS-916 test systems provide the capabilities to test all current Maverick missile versions. Mavericks have been built with guidance systems based on electro-optical, laser, charge-coupled-device (CCD), and infrared (IR) technologies and with two types of warheads. The test systems are fully compatible with earlier target simulators, including the AN/DSM-787 (IR), AN/DSM-129 (TV/CCD), and SMU-127 (laser) simulation systems. The Maverick AGM measures more than 8 ft. (2.4 m) in length and more than 12 in. (30 cm) in diameter.

“MTS is the exclusive producer of test sets for the Maverick missile and launchers since 2004,” said Major General Stephen T. Sargeant, U.S. Air Force (Retired), CEO of Marvin Test Solutions. “We’re pleased that the Indonesian Air Force has selected the MTS-206A and MTS-916 to meet their critical mission requirements. These state-of-the-art test systems will provide enhanced mission readiness and simplified logistics for their inventory of Maverick missile systems.”
