Satellite communications service provider Egyptsat has reached an agreement with Newtec for the delivery of a Sat3Play Satellite Broadcast System. The Cairo-based service provider has offered satellite services since 1997 and will use the new bird to offer affordable, interactive satellite-based broadband services, including fast Internet access. The Sat3Play system features an advanced modulation scheme for bandwidth efficiency. According to Dr. Mohamed Eigahmry, the Chief Executive Officer of Egyptsat, "We have selected Sat3Play from Netec after thorough investigation of all current VSAT systems."
