A pair of successive-detection log-video amplifiers (SDLVAs) from Hittite Microwave Corp. can detect input signals over a 55-dB dynamic range at frequencies to 26 GHz. Model HMC813 operates from 1 to 20 GHz while model HMC813LC4B extends from 1 to 26 GHz. Both provide limited RF outputs and the capability to log the amplitude levels of pulsed input signals with less than 10-ns rise times and less than 20 ns recovery times across a dynamic range from -53 to +7 dBm. The amplifiers provide log linearity of better than +/-0.5 dB over the full operating-temperature range from -55 to +85oC. They feature Class 1A electrostatic-discharge (ESD) ratings based on a 250-V human-body model (HBM). The SDLVAs draw less than 153 mA from a single +3.3-VDC supply and are available in chip and 4 x 4 mm ceramic-packaged formats. They are ideal for a wide range of military and aerospace applications, including electronic-countermeasures (ECM) systems, electron-warfare (EW) systems, direction-finding radars, and instantaneous-frequency-measurement (IFM) receivers. Data sheets are available on the Hittite web site.
