Model dB-4409 is a pod-mounted, dual-band traveling-wave-tube amplifier (TWTA) with 300 W CW output power. It features fast switching between its two standard frequency bands of 2 to 8 GHz and 7.5 to 18 GHz for full-band frequency coverage of 2 to 18 GHz, and is suitable for electronic-warfare (EW) and electronic-countermeasures (ECM) applications. Custom frequency bands are also available. With a diameter of 9 in. and weight of 90 lbs., the TWTA is ideal for military airborne applications. The dB-4409 TWTA operates at altitudes up to 55,000 ft. and temperatures between -40 and +70C, and is ruggedized to withstand humidity, vibration, and shock. It using periodic-permanent-magnetic (PPM) focusing and conduction cooling for long operating life and high reliability. The high-voltage power supply section uses modular architecture and low-noise power supply topology utilizing high-efficiency solid state power conversion circuits. The unit achieves 55-dB gain over its bandwidth with -55 dBc spurious content. It includes a pair of SMA female input connectors, an SC female connector for 2 to 8 GHz, and a WRD-750 waveguide flange for 7.5 to 18 GHz.
