The first Wireless and Microwave Technology Conference (WAMI) is scheduled for April 15-16, 2004 in the Radisson Sand Key Hotel (Clearwater, FL). The conference is actually an extension of a one-day IEEE conference that has been held at the University of South Florida for the past few years under the guidance of Professor Larry Dunleavy. The 2004 Wireless and Microwave Technology Conference is being organized by Dr. General Chair Barry S. Perlman, Director of the DARPA Liaison/Program Office of the US Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command (RDECOM) Communications Electronics R&DE Center (CERDEC) along with Professor Rudy Henning of the University of South Florida. The expanded conference now has support from the IEEE's Microwave Theory & Techniques Society (MTT-S). The conference includes two plenary talks, covering the crossover between wireless and defense technologies and the challenges of achieving wide-bandwidth communications, as well as a wide range of tutorial sessions on ultrawideband (UWB) communications, space-based antenna technologies, RF microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), power amplifier design, wireless local area networks (WLANs), and design automation.
