A pair of low-cost RMS power detectors from Hittite Microwave Corp. can be used for applications from DC to 5.8 GHz. Model HMC1010LP4E operates from DC to 3.9 GHz. It offers a 60-dB dynamic range with -68 dBm nominal intercept point and 37 mV/dB sensitivity. It features 1 dB accuracy with less than 0.1-dB modulation error at 900, 1900, and 2200 MHz. The single-ended model HMC909LP4E operates from DC to 5.8 GHz with a 40-dB dynamic range and -70 dBm nominal intercept point. It has 37 mV/dB sensitivity and less than 0.1-dB modulation error at 900, 1900, 2200, and 3500 MHz and 0.4 dB at 5800 MHz. Both operate from a +5-VDC supply and are supplied in a 4-x-4-mm leadless surface-mount package with an integrated 4-b digital bandwidth control interface.
