Raytheon Co.Has received a $20-million Foreign Military Sales technical-assistance contract to support operational capability of Kuwait's Patriot Air and Missile Defense System. The US Army Aviation and Missile Command (Redstone Arsenal, AL) issued this follow-on contract to continue providing training and support for Kuwait's fielded radars, which are currently under contract to be upgraded to Configuration-3. Work under this agreement will be performed by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) at the Air Defense Force Base in Kuwait, as well as at the Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, MA.
Focus Microwaves Corp.
Several multi-national Tier 1 foundries and RFIC ODMs have placed orders for systems based on the Focus NPEx 2.0 noise-characterization toolset in conjunction with Agilent Technologies' PNA-X network analyzer. Key features of NPEx 2.0 include multidimensional swept-bias and swept-frequency extraction domain, integration with wafer-probe systems, and full compatibility with modeling tools including Agilent IC-CAP.
FreeWave Technologies
Has been selected by OG&E for its comprehensive smart-grid deployment. OG&E will utilize FreeWave's FGR2-PE wireless radio solution for the distribution- automation component of the smart-grid network. As a result, FreeWave's solution is expected to provide secure and reliable connectivity for OG&E's electricity distribution system.
Communications & Power Industries, Inc. (CPI)
Has received an approximately $18-million contract from Raytheon Co. to support the Jackal passive-infrared defeat systems for the US Army. Work under this contract will be performed at CPI's Satcom Division in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, as well as its Microwave Power Products Division in Palo Alto, CA.
Ambient Corp.Has selected Sierra Wireless' AirPrime embedded modules to provide 3G wireless connectivity for its latest X-series smart-grid communications node, which is used by energy and utilities companies. The X-series smart-grid node is part of the Ambient Smart Grid communications platform.
Hughes Network Systems LLC
Has been selected by Boeing to provide the Ground Communications Network (GCN) for the MEXSAT satellite-based network (SBN) system. Hughes has already commenced work on the 33-month project. It will supply system design and development engineering, the fabrication and development of gateways, factory integration, and test of all subsystems.
