The IEEE Microwave Theory & Techniques Society's (MTT-S) premiere annual event, the International Microwave Symposium (IMS), is also the RF/microwave industry's leading annual event, an opportunity to learn about technology advances in the technical sessions, to see new products at exhibition booths, and to renew old acquaintances on the show floor. With 2010's theme of "The Golden State of Microwaves" borrowing from this year's Anaheim, CA site, the 2010 IMS promises to be one of the better-attended meetings of recent years, with many industry companies holding their own financially even in the throes of challenging economic conditions.

This special version of the MRF UPDATE newsletter will appear in your e-mail Monday through Thursday this week, to help readers who are attending the show as well as those who stayed home. Some of the items below point out some products and technologies of interest on the exhibit show floor, which opens tomorrow. But for today, the technical sessions offer a rich collection of presentations, including metamaterials, millimeter-wave amplifiers, beamforming networks, power combiners and dividers, ultrawideband (UWB) filters, systems, space mapping technologies, voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) switches, II-V compound semiconductors, photonics, packaging, and terahertz signal generation. For those in quest of the latest technology, the technical program (now available on the IMS web site) certainly offers something for everyone.
