Malaysia's leading semiconductor wafer foundry, SilTerra Malaysia, has announced a partnership with Hsinchu, Taiwan-based, fabless radio-frequency-integrated-circuit (RFIC) company AMIC Communication (AMICCOM). The agreement is for manufacturing AMICCOM's RFIC products using SilTerra's 0.18-micron RFCMOS semiconductor technology. Silterra Malaysia offers a variety of semiconductor processes, including RF and logic devices, with a design capacity of 40,000 eight-inch wafers per month.

According to Tzeng San Tan, President of AMICCOM, "0.18-micron RFCMOS process maturity and accuracy of RF models are our key criteria in selecting a foundry partner and SilTerra has demonstrated their capability in meeting our stringent RF design requirements." He added "several new products, such as a low-power transceiver for 2.4-GHz wireless data communication used in game consoles and PC peripherals, have already been qualified and we are ramping up to full production."
