Lockheed Martin
Is developing the US Air Force's nextgeneration Global Positioning System, which is known as GPS III. The company has successfully completed the program's critical-design-review (CDR) phase two months ahead of the baseline schedule. Completion of the CDR phase represents the culmination of many rigorous assembly, subsystem, element, space vehicle, and system-level CDR events. It also validates the overall design maturity of the GPS III space vehicle and Lockheed Martin's readiness to enter production.
General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies
Has received an $80-million contract from Harris Corp. to design, manufacture, and install six new 16-m antennas and upgrade four 9-m satellite-communications antennas. In order to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA's) new GOES-R program, the antennas will enable command, control, telemetry, and sensor data communications between satellites and ground stations. The new 16-m antennas will be installed at the NOAA Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station in Wallops, VA with a remote backup site in Fairmont, WV. The upgraded antennas are located at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, MD. Nexcom, Inc. will provide high-power amplifiers for the program.

Has successfully completed the Made in USA Certified proprietary audit process, making it the first US manufacturer of long-range industrial-wireless radio/ Ethernet technology to be granted license to use that seal.
AT4 wireless, Inc.
Has announced new testing services to cover Release 8 (LTE) and Release 7 (HSPA+) under ISO 17025 accreditation. AT4 wireless started operations in Taiwan in October 2009. During 2010, this testing laboratory obtained ISO 17025 accreditation and became the GCF- and PTCRB-accredited laboratory for GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, and HSPA conformance testing including protocol and RF.
MITRE Corp.
Has signed an agreement with the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), which will allow MITRE to leverage INCOSE's professional certification program. Through its terms, MITRE and INCOSE will collaborate in granting the INCOSE certification to appropriately qualified MITRE systems engineers.
Tyco Electronics
Has announced a definitive agreement with ADC under which Tyco Electronics will acquire ADC for $12.75 per share in cash or an enterprise value of approximately $1.25 billion. The transaction will position Tyco Electronics' Network Solutions segment as a leading global provider of broadband connectivity products to carrier and enterprise networks around the world.
QUALCOMM, Inc.
Has announced Global Holding Corp. Pvt. Ltd. and Tulip Telecom Ltd. as initial shareholders for its India LTE venture. Subject to receipt of government approvals, QUALCOMM will have a 74-percent stake in the venture while Global Holding Corp. and Tulip Telecom will hold 13 percent each (as required by applicable Indian Foreign Direct Investment regulations).
Savi Technology
Has announced the relocation of its global headquarters to Alexandria, VA. The headquarters, which is located at the company's existing offices at 3601 Eisenhower Ave., will be the primary office for Savi Technology's senior leaders and marketing staff. Savi Technology's previous headquarters in Mountain View, CA will be transformed into the company's Innovation Lab.
MITEQ, Inc.
Has appointed Lionheart Northwest, Inc. as its exclusive sales representative in Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia. Lionheart Northwest will represent MITEQ's component products division, which includes amplifiers, mixers, frequency multipliers, passive power components, switches, attenuators, limiters, phase shifters, intermediate-frequency (IF) signal-processing components, oscillators, synthesizers, integrated multifunction assemblies, and fiber-optic products.
BC Systems, Inc.
Has appointed two manufacturer's representatives each responsible for sales of the company's RF and microwave power amplifiers and power-supply products in different areas of the US. Aurora-Franklin Marketing LLC represents BC Systems in upstate New York. Shaw-Newman of Ft. Wayne, IN represents the firm in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania.
Giga-tronics Microsource Division
Has added three sales representatives on the East Coast and New England region to cover its growing business in microwave components and sub-assemblies. New England's Advanced Technology Marketing covers Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Advanced Technology Marketing (mid-Atlantic) covers Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia. MicroCom Sales covers New York, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania.
Lockheed Martin
Has opened the doors to its new facilities at its Space Systems Company operations in Newtown, PA. The 15,000-square-foot multi-purpose Patriot Center will facilitate large-scale meetings, such as spacecraft program design reviews, demonstration initiatives, and customer events. The 18,800-square-foot addition at the facility's Product Team Building expands the satellite manufacturing capability. It also houses a passive intermodulation chamber and a near-field antenna range and antenna assembly clean room for the manufacturing of Global Positioning System (GPS) components. Both projects were designed to be certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.
