Instrument company Anritsu, Copenhagen, Denmark, has developed a new SDH STM-1/-4/-16 test option for the CMA 3000 field tester.

The new SDH option allows active testing with one transmitter and one receiver, and also simultaneous bi-directional monitoring of SDH lines with two receivers up to STM-16 speeds. With this, operators and equipment manufacturers can now test and measure access network-communication lines based on SDH transmission.

Further options support testing of Ethernet, VoIP, E3, and V-series interface lines. Because of the tester's bidirectional monitoring capability, users can verify that both sides of the SDH line are working properly at rates up to STM-16.
