Test Signal Bandwidths Extend To 320 MHz

An established line of spectrum/signal analyzers has been enhanced with an available doubling of their analysis bandwidth.

Engineers in need of a wide analysis bandwidth for studying pulsed or highly modulated signals now have a viable option in the FSW signal and spectrum analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz. The firm has announced versions with 320-MHz analysis bandwidths, a boost from the previous high of 160 MHz. This capability, which brings short, 10-ns pulses within the range of the analyzer, makes this family of analyzers powerful tools for scrutinizing signals in wideband digital communications and radar systems. The FSW family of signal analyzers is available for frequency coverage from 2 Hz to 8.0 GHz, 13.6 GHz, or 26.5 GHz. They are known for their low noise, with phase noise of -137 dBc/Hz offset 1 Hz from a 1-GHz carrier and -128 dBc/Hz offset 1 Hz from a 10-GHz carrier. The instruments, which show results on a 12.1-in. touchscreen display, provide 0.4-dB amplitude accuracy to 8 GHz. Current FSW users can upgrade their instruments from 160-MHz analysis bandwidth to 320-MHz analysis bandwidth by simply entering a key code, with no hardware modifications required.
