Systems engineering was once associated with military electronics, but is now playing an increasingly important role in commercial, industrial, and even medical electronics areas. To aid engineers in need of further education, the University of California, Irvine Extension has added two new courses to its online Systems Engineering Certificate Program: "Foundations of the Systems Engineering Process" and "System Validation and Verification" will both be available online during the Fall quarter. The school will also host a free webinar: Agile PM & Systems Engineering in Commercial Product Development on August 31 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM PDT. It will cover how some of the agile techniques typically applied in aerospace and defense industries are now being used in commercial, industrial, and financial markets.
