Companies Team to Optimize Small Cell Technology

July 3, 2013
An RF power solutions company and a mixed signals semiconductor company have joined forces to optimize small cell technology for the base station market.

To bring low power, cost-efficient solutions to the small cell base station market, Scintera networks has joined forces with Freescale Semiconductor. Freescale will design small cell RF power amplifier (PA) devices and evaluation boards using Scintera’s RF PA Linearizer (RFPAL) products.

Small cell deployments aim to support major increases in worldwide Internet Protocol (IP) traffic and system power requirements. RFPAL technology enables the use of  pre-distortion for improved amplifier linearity at lower power levels  than previous technologies. The two companies hope that their engagement will benefit not only customers, but network operators and ultimately their subscribers.
