NuWaves Selected for S-Band T/R SBIR Award

May 16, 2018
NuWaves Engineering has received an SBIR Phase I award to develop a T/R module for S-band STRAFE systems.

Veteran-owned small business NuWaves Engineering has been selected by the U.S. Navy for a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I award. The award is for NuWaves’ S-band transmit/receive module advancements for efficient radars (STRAFE). The six-month Phase I project will involve R&D for creation of a monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) architecture that can be integrated into a high-performance transmit/receive module. Once the module is developed, it will be delivered to the Navy during Phase II.

“NuWaves looks forward to working with the Navy to advance the state of the art in size, weight, and power (SWaP) for mobile radar applications with the STRAFE program,” said Jeff Wells, president and CEO of NuWaves Engineering. “Our team is excited to define a new benchmark for transmit power density and provide a game-changing capability to support the Warfighter.”
