TriQuint Semiconductor has been acknowledged as a leading supplier of surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) filters for Global Positioning System (GPS) products in the growing personal navigation device (PND) market according to market research conducted by Canalys. According to the research, TriQuint holds an estimated 66-percent GPS SAW filter share in supplying devices for PNDs made by three of the top four major manufacturers, including Garmin, Tom-Tom, Mio Technology and Magellan.

According to TriQuint Networks Vice President, Brian P. Balut, "The growth of our key customers and their long-term relationships with the TriQuint GPS portfolio has expanded our position in this segment. When researchers including Canalys reported this month that shipments by the top four exceeded 8.8 million units in the third quarter, we calculated a SAW filter market share of 66 percent." TriQuint products are used in all major PND market segments including handset, automotive and industrial GPS applications. TriQuint expects to sell more than 52 million GPS filters by the end of 2007.
