Synthesizers Tune To VSAT Frequencies

July 1, 2010
A line of surface-mount frequency synthesizers from EM Research has been developed for very-small-aperture-terminal (VSAT) applications. The series of models includes units covering 950 to 1450 MHz, 950 to 1750 MHz, 950 to 2150 MHz, and 13.05 GHz. As an ...

As an example, model HFS-2150-XX operates from 950 to 2150 MHz with 200-kHz steps and +7 dBm output power. It works with a 10-MHz reference source to achieve phase noise of -85 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier and -110 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. This synthesizer runs from less than 150 mA at +5 VDC and exhibits -55 dBc spurious content and -15 dBc harmonics. It measures a mere 1.25 x 1.00 x 0.25 in.
