Frequency synthesizer model HFS-2500 from EM Research tunes from 2000 to 2500 MHz in 10-MHz steps and with better than 5-ms tuning speed. The synthesizer, which is ideal for electronic-warfare (EW) applications, delivers +5 dBm output power with better than -15 dBc harmonics and better than -60 dBc spurious content. It operates from an external 100-MHz reference and exhibits single-sideband (SSB) phase noise of better than -95 dBc/Hz offset 1 kHz from a 2.2-GHz carrier and less than -121 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the same carrier frequency. The source is supplied in a surface-mount package measuring 1.25 x 1.00 x 0.24 in. It runs on supplies of 120 mA at +5 VDC and 80 mA at +8 VDC.
