The ProtoLaser S laser system from LPKF Laser and Electronics AG can fabricate complete layouts on printed circuit boards (PCBs) without need of chemicals. The laser system, which is ideal for producing analog, digital, and RF/microwave circuits on FR4, FR3, ceramic, teflon (PTFE), polyimide, and polyester substrate materials and laminates. It works with standard layout files and can create a complex digital circuit measuring 229 x 305 mm in less than 20 minutes at the touch of a button. According to the firm's Sales Director, Britta Schulz, "Prototypes can be made quickly, and small batches can be produced on demand."
