Custom Capacitors Available Quickly

The Tecate Group has announced the quick-turnaround availability of custom ultracapacitor modules expressly engineered to accelerate the development of military ground-mobile, sea, and airborne products and systems. The modules employ either Tecate's PowerBurst or Maxwell Technologies' BoostCap ultracapacitor cells. The 2.7-V, high-powerdensity RoHS-compliant cells feature capacitance values ranging from 0.5 to 3000 F and low equivalent series resistance (ESR) for optimal performance in mission-critical military applications. The quick-turn custom ultracapacitor modules are available encased in a rugged, aluminum housing and an array of custom packaging alternatives. A wide choice of mounting options, together with cables and interconnect options are offered.

Synthesizer Tunes From 0.5 To 20.0 GHz

The 20 GHz QuickSyn microwave frequency synthesizer from Phase Matrix is based on a patented, phaserefi ning technology that provides a unique combination of fast-switching speed, low phase noise, and low spurious content, all for a reasonable price. For example, the model FSW-0020 frequency synthesizer operates from 0.5 to 20 GHz (extendable to 0.2 GHz) with 0.001 Hz resolution. It features frequency switching speed of 100 s and delivers +13 dBm output power across the frequency range. The single-sideband (SSB) phase noise is -116 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from a 20-GHz carrier, with spurious content of typically -60 dBc. It includes a wide range of modulation capabilities, including amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), phase modulation, and pulse modulation. It also includes power leveling and performs frequency and power sweeps.

Supplier Augments Ceramics And Services

Laser Services has expanded capabilities in both ceramic materials inventory and laser-based machining services for those materials. The company stocks ceramic substrates (primarily alumina) from leading suppliers, with a support staff that maintains up-to-date details on the critical ceramic material parameters that can impact the mechanical and electrical integrity of a customer's design. These include consistency of dielectric constant, coeffi cient of thermal expansion (CTE), and dissipation factor. The company also offers extensive laser machining services for all types of materials. The fi rm's array of laser-based machine tools includes high-power, midpower, and low-power lasers to cut, mark, weld, and perform a wide range of machining operations on a variety of materials. A combination of high-power Nd:YAG lasers and high-power CO2 laser systems can accommodate surfaces as large as 5 x 10 ft., while mid-power CO2 systems provide optically aligned precision cuts. Dualbeam and quad-beam CO2 laser systems can handle detailed designs whether in small prototype runs or large production runs.
