Avago Technologies had added to its lines of low-cost, high-performance GaAs low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) with the new MGA-21108. It is designed for use from 1.5 to 8.0 GHz in an 8-pin STSLP package measuring 2.5 x 2.5 x 0.55 mm. It operates from supply voltages of +1.4 to +3.3 VDC and is ideal for battery-operated applications. The LNA provides gain of 10.7 to 18.7 dB across the frequency range with noise figures of 1.5 to 2.8 dB. It features CMOS-compatible variable bias control and consumes only 18 mA nominal current.
