Aleron Adds Wireless USB Assets

Wireless universal serial bus (USB) technology leader Alereon recently announced that it had acquired certain Wireless USB assets and the associated development team of Stonestreet One. The Stonestreet One Wireless USB drivers have been the standard for the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) for platform certification since the organization began this work in 2007. Alereon has been instrumental in applying wireless ultrawideband (UWB) technologies to the USB standard for connectivity of computers and peripheral devices, to make those connections through a reliable, wireless means.

Eric Broockman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alereon, reported: "We are pleased to have acquired this part of the business from Stonestreet One. The market for Wireless USB products continues to expand, and the addition of the intellectual property and engineering expertise from Stonestreet One provides us additional resources to accelerate our customers' ability to bring new products to market." The addition of the Stonestreet One team expands Alereon's software capabilities, adding depth of expertise in Linux, Windows XP, Vista, Mobile and the future Windows 7.
