MM-Wave Amplifiers Extend Past 96 GHz

These lines of millimeter-wave power amplifiers operate to 96 GHz with coaxial connectors, waveguide connectors, and the ease of single bias.
The HMPA and HHPA series of power amplifiers were expanded to include high-gain models with coaxial connectors and waveguide operating through 96 GHz.

The HMPA and HHPA lines of millimeter-wave power amplifiers from HXI Millimeter Wave Products have grown with the addition of a dozen new models covering a total frequency range of 17 to 96 GHz. Well-suited for applications in communications systems, radar systems, and test equipment, the amplifiers combine high gain and respectable output power at 1-dB compression with the ease of a single bias supply. The amplifiers are built on proven monolithic-microwave-integrated-circuit (MMIC) device technology, and come in compact housings with coaxial or waveguide connectors.

As an example, model HHPAB2.4-511 operates from 40.0 to 47.5 GHz with 15-dB typical gain and +23-dBm output power at 1-dB compression. It’s equipped with 2.4-mm female coaxial connectors. For a somewhat higher frequency range, the new model HHPAV-510 offers a bandwidth of 50.0 to 66.0 GHz. It features 34-dB typical gain with +14-dBm typical output power at 1-dB compression. It’s supplied with WR-15 waveguide connectors.

Toward the high-frequency upper limits of the amplifier family, model HPAW-530 covers the 4-GHz bandwidth from 92.0 to 96.0 GHz using WR-10 waveguide input and output connectors. It achieves +15-dBm output power at 1-dB compression with 30-dB typical small-signal gain. For improved reliability and ease of use, each amplifier contains an internal voltage regulator and bias sequencing circuitry.
