W.L. Gore & AssociatesHas been awarded the contract to provide GORE™ Umbilical Assemblies for the A-10 Precision Engagement (PE) Kit by Lockheed Martin. This is the second contract awarded to Gore for the A-10 program following the initial award of PE kits to the A-10 Prime Team in March 2005.

Herley Industries, Inc.Announced that its Farmingdale, NY subsidiary has been awarded a $4.9 million contract for continued development and initial production of microwave phase shifters for an advanced phased-array radar. This seaborne application has been in development for almost two years.

Herley also announced that its Israeli operation has been awarded a production order totaling $8.3 million to produce microwave sources and integrated microwave assemblies for an international customer.

WPCS International, Inc.—Has recently been awarded a variety of new contracts totaling approximately $3.1 million.

Some of the new contracts awarded to WPCS, through its subsidiaries, include projects to be completed for GlennColusa Irrigation District, Dunmoore Croftwood ADT, TMobile, Capital Region Council of Governments, Harrah's Casino Hotel, New Jersey Natural Gas, and the VCI Group.

Tundra Semiconductor Corp.—Reported financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2007, which ended January 28, 2007:

  • Q3 Revenue: $21.7 million
  • Q3 Pro forma earnings: $3.0 million
  • Q3 Pro forma diluted earnings per share: $0.15
  • Q3 GAAP Results: earnings of $1.3 million or $0.06 per diluted share.

Iridium Satellite LLC—Announced plans to open a new telemetry, tracking, and command/control (TTAC) earth station in Norway. The TTAC opening is part of a continuous improvement plan to enhance Iridium's constellation reliability and global mobile satellite-communications service quality.

Expected to open in the third quarter of 2007, the Iridium TTAC facility will be located in Svalbard, Norway under an agreement with Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT). KSAT, the owner and operator of the KSA Svalbard Satellite station (SvalSat), the world's largest ground station dedicated to supporting polar orbiting satellites, will provide operations and maintenance support for the site. Initially, it will include two Iridium dedicated tracking command transmission and data reception antennas. Iridium expects to add up to three additional antennas at a later date.

Agilent Technologies, Inc.—Announced plans to expand the company's investment in its Integrated Circuit Characterization and Analysis Program (IC-CAP) device modeling software. The company will establish a new research and development modeling center in Beijing, China, to better serve the industry's leading semiconductor foundries and to respond to advancements in complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) modeling in particular.

Silicon Laboratories, Inc.—Announced a definitive agreement with NXP, formerly Philips Semiconductor. NXP will purchase the Aero transceiver, AeroONE™ single-chip phone and power-amplifier product lines, for $285 million in cash, with additional earn-out potential of up to an aggregate of $65 million over the next three years.

G.I.D.I.Y. specializes in the distribution, technical support, and service of measurement, test equipment, and systems. Supplying RF/microwave test instruments, components, and systems, as well as RF/EMI components and test instruments, G.I.D.I.Y. focuses on professional applications in the wireless, general electronics market.

G.I.D.I.Y. will promote, sell, and support precisionWave's line of RF test instruments.

Mercury Computer Systems—Has joined the Software Defined Radio Forum (SDRF) Board of Directors. Murat Bicer, product marketing manager for Mercury's Software Defined Radio Group, was elected to the SDRF board as the medium company representative.

Newport Media—Opened the Newport Media Egypt Design Center in Cairo, Egypt. The facility adds additional systems-design and software-development resources to meet customer demand and product development.

The Cairo facility is the first design center for Newport Media, and it is expected to aid the company in expanding its operations globally in key markets. The location of the design center also taps into a valuable engineering talent pool.

ANADIGICS, Inc.—Reported fourth-quarter 2006 net sales of $49.1 million, an increase of 10 percent compared with net sales of $44.8 million in the prior quarter, and an increase of 48 percent compared to net sales of $33.3 million in the year ago quarter.

Net loss calculated in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the US for the fourth quarter was $0.1 million, or $0.00 per share, compared with a GAAP net loss of $1.3 million, or $0.03 per share, in the prior quarter, and a GAAP net loss of $3.9 million, or $0.11 per share, in the year ago quarter. Pro forma income for the fourth quarter, which excludes non-cash stock-compensation expense, was $2.8 million or $0.01 per share.
