Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) has been awarded an $8.6 million firm-fixed-price (FFP) contract by the U.S. Air Force. MTS will be providing chassis and instrumentation for the production of portable automated test set model 70A (PATS-70A) test sets used for O-Level and I-Level maintenance of A-10/C aircraft. The contract also covers upgrade kits for converting existing PATS-70 test sets to the new PATS-70A configuration (see figure). The work, which will be performed at MTS’s Irvine, Calif. facility, is expected to be completed by mid-2019.
MTS partnered with the USAF’s Odgen Air Logistics Complex at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah in 2014 to design, produce, and deploy the PATS-70 test set as a replacement for the obsolete PATS-30 tester. The PATS-70 was based on Marvin’s commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) MTS-207 test system. The PATS-70A program will enhance the capabilities of the PATS-70 test set to support additional armament and weapon systems in addition to supporting the existing avionics test functionality.
“We are pleased to have been selected for this mission critical program by the U.S. Air Force,” said Major General Stephen T. Sargeant, USAF (Ret.), CEO of Marvin Test Solutions. “I’m confident that our domain expertise and our experience in providing flight line and intermediate-level test sets, coupled with the open architecture of our MTS-207 platform, will deliver a comprehensive test solution to the warfighter that meets and exceeds both current and future test needs.”
