Agilent Technologies is offering a free application note, "Preamplifiers and System Noise Figure." Geared for users of spectrum analyzers, the note explains how to improve measurement accuracy by using a low noise amplifier in front of a spectrum analyzer to reduce the effective noise figure of RF and microwave test systems. The application note covers a variety of applications and highlights the company's new 87405C microwave preamplifiers that provide high gain and a probe-power bias connection.
