Agilent Technologies has dveloped an integrated sink, source, and cable test solution for the new High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) 1.3 standard. The system is used for manual and automated HDMI physical-layer compliance tests, as well as for margin-test and characterization for R&D and manufacturing. Target customers include consumer electronics manufacturers, semiconductor supplies, and cable manufacturers. Key elements of the new solution include Infiniium oscilloscopes, a time domain reflectometer (TDR), a ParBERT-based Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS) signal generator, extensions to the test automation software (N5990A), and HDMI-specific accessories, including the new N1080A series Test Point Access (TPA) Assembly adapters. The Infiniium oscilloscope software (N5399A) provides an integrated equalizer as well as jitter-separation capabilities for accurate total-jitter extrapolation.
