High-Def Scopes Grab 0.2 To 1 GHz

April 9, 2013
A line of digital oscilloscopes uses 12-b ADCs and advanced filtering to render 15-b effective signal-analysis resolution.

Recognized earlier this year at the DesignCon technical conference (Santa Clara, CA), the HDO4000 and HDO6000 high-definition oscilloscopes from Teledyne LeCroy bring 12-b analysis resolution across measurement bandwidths from 200 MHz to 1 GHz. The instruments, which were awarded the Design Vision Award for Test & Measurement at the trade show, provide sample rates to 2.5 GSamples/s with as much as 250 Mpoints/channel memory.

The oscilloscopes are based on a low-noise system architecture with high signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) amplifiers and 12-b analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The end result is about 16 times more vertical resolution than 8-b instruments. The analysis capability is aided by the firm’s high-resolution filtering technology, for effective 15-b measurement resolution. To learn more, click here.
