Agilent Is Not Just Test Equipment

June 6, 2013
Several new software packages aid designers at commercial and military circuit and system levels.

In addition to many demonstrations of new benchtop and portable RF/microwave test equipment, Agilent Technologies will be strong at the 2013 IMS at booth No. 1230 (and along Agilent Avenue on the show floor) with a number of new computer-aided-engineering (CAE) software announcements. The firm will demonstrate EMPro 2013, which will be available for download in July, for analysis of electromagnetic-interference (EMI) problems in modeling integrated circuits (ICs) and printed-circuit boards (PCBs).

During the time of the show, the company will also be announcing two new reference libraries for its system-level SystemVue software, the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) baseband verification and Digital Modem libraries allow system designers and algorithmic researchers to bring instrument-grade standard references into the design simulation process. System designers can now study satcom and terrestrial communications systems under a wide range of impaired conditions before hardware is available.

Of the GNSS library, Daren McClearnon, ESL design segment lead at Agilent, offers:  “SystemVue pulls together reference intellectual property, the designer’s own DSP and RF architectures, and realistic test waveforms into simulated scenarios, enabling designers to validate new ideas before systems are deployed in hardware.” The Digital Modem library provides approximately 35 digital modulation formats used in satellite, military, and commercial wireless communications systems to aid designers of those systems.
