Gallium-nitride-on-silicon (GaN-on-Si) supplier Nitronex (Durham, NC) has completed qualification of its new wafer fabrication facility, effectively moving the company from Raleigh, NC to Durham, NC. The new facility is qualified for volume production, with a full summary qualification report on the facility available sometime later this month. According to Bruce Cochran, Vice-President of Operations for Nitronex, "Completing rigorous qualification verifies that the material produced in the new Durham facility matches material produced in Raleigh. The data for parts generated in Durham show the same reliability and performance when compared to products from our Raleigh facilities." Cochrane added that the new facility "is further evidence that we have evolved from pilot line production to volume manufacturing." Qualification of the new 85,000-square-foot research and manufacturing facility completes the relocation of the company.
