More Power Means More Radio Range at S/L-Band

June 20, 2018
The MPU5 radio system employs a modular architecture which simplifies upgrades, such as a recent higher-power transmitter for increased radio range.

Tactical radios depend on transmit power for sufficient radio range, since they must often compete with foliage, rough terrain, and even enemy jammers. In support of radio systems capable of increased communications range, Persistent Systems, LLC has released 10-W versions of its S- and L-band radio modules, with improved power amplifier output power and power-added efficiency. These RF modules also leverage enhanced filtering techniques to provide immunity from noise in challenging RF environments.

“We have taken everything we have learned and every new advancement in power amplifier and filtering technology and completely redesigned our S-Band and L-Band RF modules,” explained Eric Stern, director of engineering at Persistent Systems. “Our customers value every bit of range and performance, and these modules truly deliver.”
