Mercury Supports EW System Application

Sept. 26, 2017
Mercury Systems has received a major contract from a prime defense contractor for an RF/microwave module in support of an advanced EW system application.

Mercury Systems has received a $3.8 million order from a leading prime contractor for integrated RF/microwave modules, intended for an advanced electronic-warfare (EW) system application. The order was booked in Mercury’s fiscal first quarter of 2018 and is expected to be shipped during the next several quarters.

Mercury Systems is a supplier of components, multifunction modules, and integrated subassemblies for a wide range of applications from 1 to 140 GHz. Standard components include high-performance analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and digital RF memories (DRFMs). The company’s expertise in analog and digital component and circuit integration enables the development of densely packed circuits (see photo) that combine different types of functions—such as transmit, receive, and digital signal processing (DSP)—within compact, power-efficient modules.

Typical RF/microwave component blocks contained within the modules include amplifiers, filters, oscillators, and switches and switch matrices. The multifunction modules can be hermetically sealed for hostile environments.

“Mercury is honored to provide our valued customer with these affordable, high-performance RF and microwave modules in support of a critical national defense program,” said Kevin Beals, vice president and general manager of Mercury’s RF and Microwave group.  “Our Advanced Microelectronics Centers are committed to providing an uninterrupted supply of highly differentiated RF solutions supporting our nation’s military interests.”
