Market researcher VentureOutsource.com has published its survey of more than 230 electronic supply chain decision makers concerning the current business environment. Sponsored by distributor Digi-Key, the survey indicates that electronic original equipment manufacturers (OEM) are largely pessimistic about business conditions for the next six months. Those who identified themselves as supplies of electronic manufacturing services (EMS) or original design manufacturing (ODM) companies were slightly more optimistic. According to Paul Singh, CEO for Suntron Corp., a North American EMS company, "Economic conditions are impacting the industry as a whole, but quality-focused companies not burdened by a lot of debt and with good cash flow should emerge okay once economic conditions improve." Mark Zetter, president and founder of VentureOutsource.com, added that "Our findings don't indicate a full recovery in the electronics sector is under way just yet but our survey results do provide some helpful information indicating where we are right now in this downturn."
