The latest trend in computer-aided design (CAE) is not simply the use of software simulation, but enlisting the help of multiple CAE programs as part of a co-simulation process. To better understand the approach and how it relates to amplifier design, Agilent Technologies is offering a massive 63-page white paper, "Practical RF Amplifier Design Using the Available Gain Procedure and the Advanced Design System EM/Circuit Co-Simulation Capability." The white paper explains how to combine the capabilities of an electromagnetic (EM) simulation with a traditional S-parameter-based circuit simulator to speed and improve the accuracy of RF/microwave amplifier designs, working within the firm's Advanced Design System (ADS) software environment. Copies of the white paper are free, in PDF form, and are available at Agilent.
