The recent IEEE Microwave Theory & Techniques Society's International Microwave Show (IMS) in Boston was sparsely attended compared to microwave shows of recent years, understandable given the current economy and the lack of stimulus programs aimed specifically at the microwave industry. And, in general, trade shows of interest to the high-frequency industry will probably experience downward trends in attendance for at least the next year or two.

But trade shows, such as the European Microwave (EuMW) show and the Association of Old Crows (AOC) show for those working in military electronics, continue to be an important form of professional networking and a starting point for a great many business transactions. Because of that, Microwaves & RF will offer preview coverage of several important trade shows in the September issue, including the EuMC and AOC events, in the hope of encouraging future networking and perhaps sparking a more positive economic trend.
