Tahoe RF Semiconductor has received an STTR Phase 1 award from the United States Navy for the development of a novel phase shifterless RF phased array antenna system. The STTR program provides as much as $850,000 in early-stage research and development funding directly to small companies working cooperatively with researchers at universities and other research institutions. Tahoe RF will conduct the development in cooperation with Professor James Buckwalter's team at the University of California San Diego. The research is based on the use of novel coupled voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) networks to enable small and phase-shifterless phased-array antennas capable of supporting wideband software-defined radios (SDRs).
