EM Research was on hand at the AOC with its serially programmable model SLS-2100 frequency synthesizer, part of a family of sources covering 50 MHz to 12 GHz. This particular unit is optimized for telemetry applications from 1900 to 2100 MHz, with phase noise of typically less than -127 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. It tunes in 100-kHz steps with 750-microsecond switching speed and delivers +8 dBm output power. Spurious levels are controlled to -95 dBc. The synthesizer draws 155 mA typical current from a +12-VDC supply. It is supplied in a rugged aluminum housing measuring 1.5 x 1.5 x 0.6 in. with female SMA connectors.
