The DRO series of high-performance dielectric-resonator oscillators (DROs) generate clean output frequencies from 8 to 12 GHz. An electrical tuning option offers an adjustment range of 3 MHz for phase-locking applications by means of 0 to +12 VDC control voltages. These DROs achieve typical phase noise as good as -110 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier and draw only 20 mA from a +5-VDC supply. They deliver output levels of 0 3 dBm into a 50-Ω load at temperatures from -40 to +85C. The tuning sensitivity is approximately 1 MHz/V and harmonic levels are -25 dBc or better. Pushing is less than 1 MHz/V for a 5% change in supply voltage while pulling is less than 2 MHz for a 12-dB return loss, any phase. The DROs are supplied in surface-mount packages measuring 0.91 x 0.91 x 0.40 in. For applications requiring more rugged packaging, the oscillators are also available in a metal enclosure measuring 1.25 x 1.25 x 0.85 in. with coaxial connectors. P&A: $195, 4 to 6 wks.
