ORBIT Communication Systems, Inc.Has been selected by the Aircraft Operation Center (AOC) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to supply its Communication Management System (CMS). The CMS will be installed on the WP-3 Orion special-mission aircraft that are operated by NOAA/AOC. The Orion requires a high degree of communications between the science crew and the flight crew. This unique operation mode and heterogeneous crew demands a functional and reliable, yet also intuitive CMS that can manage the large number of operators using a variety of communication systems.
RF Micro Devices
Has been awarded a $1.5-million R&D contract by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) related to gallium-nitride (GaN) microelectronics. The contract, which includes the development of materials, device fabrication, and high-power circuits, expands RFMD's contract backlog over the next six quarters to approximately $5 million.
TECOM Industries, Inc.
Has announced a firm fixed-price, indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract award from the Defense Logistics Agency. TECOM will supply the Compass Sail antenna in support of electronic-warfare missions on various military aircraft. The contract is for a base year with a two-year option and is valued at up to $3.5 million.
xG Technology, Inc.
Has been awarded a contract to deploy an xMax cognitive cellular network that will provide mobile communications services over a large part of the US Army's Fort Bliss Desert Training areas. The trial is jointly sponsored by the US Army Signal Center of Excellence and CERDEC. In addition to the Fort Bliss deployment, the contract calls for xG to supply xMax network equipment for evaluation purposes to CERDEC's Fort Monmouth, NJ lab facility. xG will install a comprehensive xMax network solution consisting of several xMax BSN-250 base stations, an xMSC mobile switching center, and trial TX-70 handsets to allow the Army to utilize and evaluate its capabilities as a widearea and tactical cellular system.

Has received orders totaling approximately $3.2 million from several different branches of the US Military. Of those orders, roughly $2.7 million is for the company's new P25 trunked portable and mobile radios. The orders include products for all of the major frequenciesVHF, UHF, and 800 MHzand will be deployed both domestically and internationally.
Anaren, Inc.
Has announced that Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas (EMA), a business region of Avnet, Inc., will carry its Anaren Integrated Radio (AIR) modules in the Americas. In addition, Anaren has joined the TI Developer Network. The AIR product line is based on Texas Instruments' semiconductor chip technology.
