M/A-COM Technology Solutions has announced an extremely broadband intermediate-frequency (IF) amplifier, model MAAM-009116, for applications from 50 to 1000 MHz. The SOT-89-packaged single-stage amplifier features a wide dynamic range for receiver and transmitter applications. It delivers 18 dB gain with +22 dBm output power at 1-dB compression and third-order intercept point of +40 dBm.

As Product Manager for the amplifier, Jim Dempsey remarks that "At M/A-COM Technology Solutions, we are committed to developing and manufacturing products that meet the unique demands of our customers around the world. The MAAM-009116 amplifier exhibits excellent linearity while maintaining a low noise figure. These two critical parameters are a must for engineers developing receive and transmit functions for today's complex communications systems. The new MAAM-009116 High Dynamic Range IF Amplifier provides our global customer base with a high-quality product that will perform seamlessly with today's increasingly complicated technology base." In spite of its outstanding dynamic range, the amplifier exhibits a low noise figure of 2.4 dB. It is available from stock for $1.52 each in quantities of 100,000.
