[Industry News] Lighthorse Technology Offers Reverse-Polarity SMAs Jack Browne | ED Online ID #18886 | May 5, 2008
Lighthorse Technologies, Inc. (LTI) has developed a line of reverse-polarity SMA (RPSMA) connectors. Available for printed-circuit-board (PCB) termination with a variety of custom cable assemblies, the RoHS-compliant connectors are designed for wireless systems complying with FCC Part 15 regulations. These regulations are designed to prevent consumers from replacing stock antennas with higher-gain units, and rely on non-standard connectors, such as the RPSMAs. In the RPSMAs, which feature a reverse gender, the jack (female) houses the contact pin while the plug (male) houses the receptacle. The 50-ohm connectors operate at frequencies through 2.4 and 5.8 GHz for use in WiFi and WiMAX wireless systems.
