5-V InGaP/GaAs Amplifiers Satisfy Broadband RF And IF

Nancy Friedrich  |  ED Online ID #15818 |  June 2007

The quick evolution of next-generation communications is making system requirements increasingly complicated. The WJA broadband amplifier family was designed to exceed those requirements. The devices offer up to 20 dB of gain and output third-order intercepts to +43 dBm while consuming just 60 to 90 mA from a +5-V supply. The first WJA amplifiers to be introduced are the RF (WJA10xx) and IF (WJA15xx) amplifier series. The WJA series can be operated from a +5V supply. The amplifiers boast +20 dBm of output power at 1-dB compression, 15 and 20 dB of power gain, and an output third-order intercept of +35 to +43 dBm. With built-in active biasing circuitry, designers can reduce the performance variations over temperature. The WJA10xx and WJA15xx broadband products are housed in a small, RoHS-compliant, SOT-89 surface-mount package. The amplifiers are sampling with production scheduled for July.
