Peregrine Packs Four Switches On One IC

Jack Browne  |  ED Online ID #15973 |  June 26, 2007

Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation announced at the recent Microwave Theory & Techniques Symposium (MTT-S) in Hawaii the availability of the model PE42110 MultiSwitch(TM) multiple-switch integrated circuit (IC). The device incorporates four independent RF switches on a monolithic circuit. It is operated by means of a single outboard CMOS controller for more than 85-percent size reduction in next-generation wireless handsets. The device provides as much as 70 dB isolation with typical insertion loss of 0.35 dB from 100 to 3000 MHz. Its high linearity is characterized by a third-order intercept point of +71 dBm. The switch IC uses the company’s proprietary UltraCMOS silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology on a sapphire substrate to achieve excellent RF performance with high linearity.
