Micro Harmonics produces millimeter wave isolators and millimeter wave circulators operating from 25 GHz over 400 GHz. These are not stale copies of 1960’s designs with high insertion loss and large footprints. Our components are designed from the ground up using modern sophisticated electromagnetic simulation tools to achieve the industry’s widest bandwidth and lowest insertion loss in a more compact size. Our isolators employ a unique diamond heatsink to improve power handling and achieve lower operating temperatures for improved reliability. They are simply the most advanced components on the market today.

Founded in 2008 as a specialized research and design consultancy for microwave, millimeter wave, and sub-millimeter-wave components, we remain dedicated to quality components and custom solutions. In 2015 we were awarded a NASA Phase I SBIR contract and a subsequent Phase II SBIR contract to develop an advanced line of Faraday rotation isolators and circulators in bands from WR-15 through WR-3.4 (50 GHz to 330 GHz). Because of language in the congressional SBIR authorization, our isolators and circulators can be sole sourced in US government acquisitions. Our products are 100% made in the USA.

Using sophisticated impedance matching and mode control techniques we have demonstrated a WR-15 circulator with more than 6 GHz bandwidth from 58-64 GHz, which is three times the bandwidth of any other commercial product. In WR-12 we developed and demonstrated circulators covering the bands 71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz. In WR-10 our circulator covers a 5 GHz bandwidth from 90-95 GHz and in WR-8 we have demonstrated 5 GHz bandwidth from 115-120 GHz. Our circulators do not employ complicated dielectric impedance matching elements. They simply comprise a waveguide housing, a machined ferrite core and a pair of rare earth bias magnets. All impedance matching circuitry is machined into the waveguide structure to ensure maximum symmetry and repeatability. We continue to develop circulators in sub-bands from 50-200 GHz.

To our knowledge we are the only supplier of isolators at WR-3.4 in the world. Our plan is to extend the isolator line to WR-2.8 (265-400 GHz) and possibly to WR-2.2 (330-500 GHz). All of our isolators exhibit state-of-the-art performance in terms of low insertion loss, low VSWR and high isolation. They cover full waveguide bands and work very well over extended bands above and below the standard waveguide bands. Each isolator is fully characterized on a vector network analyzer, not spot-checked at a couple of frequencies in the band. They are quickly gaining traction in domestic and international markets as more and more companies engineer these products into their millimeter wave systems. Our prices are competitive and our performance is second to none. Contact Micro Harmonics today to learn more about our products.
